PopSpin
Popups that shoppers play instead of close.

Overview
PopSpin is a Shopify app for collecting emails and phone numbers with a game instead of a plain form. A shopper enters their details, spins a wheel (or scratches a card, or picks a box), and wins a discount the merchant has set up.
Merchants pick a template, match it to their brand, decide the prizes and the odds, and choose exactly when and where the popup appears. Every win creates a real discount code, and the app follows those codes through to sales.
Problem and idea
The problem
Most store popups ask for an email in exchange for a vague promise, and most shoppers close them on reflex. Merchants still need a way to grow their list, but the standard popup has become something people have learned to ignore.
The idea
Make the popup worth a second of attention. A short game gives shoppers a reason to stay, and a guaranteed reward gives them a reason to share their details. Behind the playful front, merchants get the controls they actually need: prizes, odds, limits, targeting and reporting.
My role
I design, build and maintain it: the product decisions, the interface, the frontend and backend, releases, and the support inbox afterwards.
Features
- 01
Three games, one set of rules
Spin wheel, scratch card and mystery box all share the same prizes and rules, so merchants can switch the game without rebuilding the campaign.
- 02
Prizes with odds
Percentage, fixed-amount, free-shipping and free-gift prizes, each with its own probability and win limits.
- 03
Display rules
Show the popup by page, schedule or audience, on exit intent, after a scroll, or after a delay.
- 04
Seasonal templates
Ready-made designs for sales and seasons that can be restyled to fit any brand.
- 05
Emails, subscribers and analytics
Automatic reward emails, subscriber export, and per-campaign analytics that connect codes to sales.
- 06
Works with the rest of the stack
Sign-ups can go to Klaviyo, Zapier, Google Sheets or any webhook.

Technical notes
- Real codes, not pretend ones
- Every win creates an actual Shopify discount, so the prize a shopper sees is the prize that works at checkout. Those codes are then matched back to orders for reporting.
- Probabilities that behave
- Odds and win limits have to hold up over every play, including when a prize runs out halfway through a campaign.
- A storefront guest
- The popup runs inside other people's themes. It has to look right in all of them, stay out of the way until its rules say otherwise, and never slow the store down.
